Last time I posted a b'fly so today a spider for balance ;)

On the photo you can see Tibellus oblongus called sometimes Long bodied crab spider.
It gets its name from the elongated body shape. The shape and special colouring help to disguise when it sit on dry grass or plant stem (as the one on my photo).
The camouflage is even more perfect when the spider assume a stretched out posture leaving only one pair of legs holding to the grass. The fellow on my photo was a bit scared by the camera and his pose isn't perfect. But looking at him you can probably imagine how hard it would've been to see it from bigger distance.

These spiders mostly hunt for small insects and flies. They can be found on coastal dunes among grasses, but also inland in damp fields and meadows (that's where I found this one).

WOW MONIKA !!!... STUNNING PICTURE !!!

This spider must be lucky in the wood from the predators with those colors !!!
Well composed picture, and a useful note guideline.

Hugs
Alejandro

This is a fantastic picture not only is it perfect but it also demonstrates the uncanny ability of this animals abilities to blend itself into it's natural surroundings. Paul :)

Hi Monika,
Home in the warm at last, it's getting quite chilly over here now. It's going to be a very cold winter.
Great shot, as always PERFECTION from the sweet one;).
Thanks for posting. Have a great night,

Monika, trying to balance the Universe out between butterflies and spiders :).
An unusual and wonderful creature, this arachnid, you surprised well the mimetism phenomenon, it almost looks like he could perfectly fit in place for the part of the twig that has no bark.
The flash bounce (on upper part) is a malfactor that spoiled the quality a little, also flash is to be blamed for the large portioned shadow on the right and the soft noise.
I think Santa Claus should bring a macro ring flash to bad girls this year, hmm ?! ... ;P

Hi Monika,
A superb shot here. The composition and framing are perfect. The light is good, giving nice colors and some shadows. Very well done!

Hello Monika, a lovely shot of this spider. I like the composition and pose. The picture certainly shows off how good its disguise is.

I got one of these eating another spider but you might not want to think about it.
