Note: While it is not a picture of high definition, since I got the maximum optical zoom, plus added the best of my digital zoom, and with very low light environment, I think it's interesting show this parrot under cover of one of their giant nests of twigs that can weigh 150 kgs. and accommodate up to 100 individuals.

I share with you these data extracted from a well-documented source (http://ichn.iec.cat).:
"... The species has been helped by the introduction (in Argentina and neighboring countries) as the eucalyptus trees and the installation of electric poles in treeless areas. The nest is not only used for breeding, but also as a bedroom all year. It is so central daily activity of individuals, which leave every day in small groups. The monk parakeets are the only species of parrot whose nest is built joining and intertwining twigs. and build a structure of globular aspect, with a shaped entrance tunnel leading to the inner chamber. Highly sociable, a new nest can be built attached to one already existing, forming thus a nest compound. The compounds nests are formed by a set of independent chambers to accessed by their respective entries. In Argentina has cited the case of compounds nests, built on pylons, with more than 70 cameras each. There are indications of cooperative breeding, that is, young people could eventually help raise their brothers of the next brood. ".

PS: I dare correct the data of Wikipedia which says that their nests are built to heights of 10 meters, since I myself have witnessed nests hanging in the top of huge eucalyptus, in the pampas of Argentina's province of Santa Fe. And the highest eucalyptus can reach 60 meters !!!

Hi, Hernan. I like the composition are in the beautiful colors against its nest. Well seen and presented and thanks for the nice note.

That's a curious back drop to capture a lovely Parakeet from your region, Hernan.
Despite the challenges of light and distance, you have managed a pretty good shot.
Thanks.
Ram

Hello Hernan,
Excellent capture of a nice colorful bird. Interesting photographers note.
Indeed at this height it is very difficult to take a shoot....Still the clarity is very good.
Marius.
