I came across this native plum (no relation to plums elsewhere in the world) starting to rot in the Forty Mile Scrub national park in outback Queensland. Forty Mile Scrud is a dry rainforest due to seasonal rains.
The common nane for the plum is the Burdekin Plum and the botanical name is Pleiogynium timoriense. They can also be found in some pacific islands.
They are edible but quite acidic.
