|This Solitary Sandpiper was feeding along the shoreline up at Magee Marsh. I am not familiar with shorebirds, but I like to photograph them whenever an opportunity presents itself. |
The Solitary Sandpiper like its name suggest, likes to hunt on its own. It lays is eggs high above the ground in old songbird nests, while most sandpipers choose to nest on the ground. It is a bit darker then the Spotted Sandpiper and has a more pronounced eye ring.

Hi Ron,the blue of water in background is perfect to contrast the bird. A lovely capture of this sandpiper, that i seen many times during my trips. The sharpness of plumage is very porfessional,i like it! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Very beautiful image of this solitary bird in combination of the blue BG, very good sharpness and details, very nice POV.
You have captured this image so beautifully...bringing out the feather patterns & the color in such details against the blue water. Had not been the weeds & mosses on the foreground of the image, the full reflection of the sandpiper could have been captured.
Ciao Ron, great capture of lovely bird in nice pose, wonderful natural colors, splendid sharpness and fine details, very well done, my friend, have a good week end, ciao Silvio
Pity I missed this wonderful picture earlier, Ron.
This is nature imagery at its best.
The bird is beautifully placed between water and land.
Thanks for sharing this beauty.
Beautiful picture of this Sandpiper. Very good details as well as light. Blue sky reflection on water looks nice. Well focused and even bit catch light from such difficult angle.
Thanks for showing,
