Xerocomus badius

The bay bolete is an edible, pored mushroom found in Europe and North America, where it grows in coniferous or mixed woods on the ground or on decaying tree stumps, sometimes in prolific numbers. The smooth, cylindrical stipe, measuring 4窶9 cm (1.6窶3.5 in) long by 1窶2 cm (0.4窶0.8 in) thick, is coloured like the cap, but paler.

Hi Moz. Anyone would have removed the wood that is above the mushroom to make a perfect picture, but you left it to reproduce the natural environment as you found it and I like it. A good catch despite the difficult light, and then this species is really good to eat! Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano.

Hi Moz
I agree with Luciano that keeping the stick is a good idea. A good clear sharp image of the top - I can almost taste it now!
cheers
Ian
