Hello,

a break from the Deer shots today and a return to my favourite subject, landscapes.
This is Bacon Hole, just as the rising sun shone the last of it's golden light and disappeared behind cloud for the rest of the day. I was actually stood on top of a large limstone sea stack here, which rises out of the water and is reached by a small strip of rock at it's base. This was handheld as there was no suitable or safe spot to set up a tripod.
The faint 'path' running up the cliff to the right in the background was our route out of here and provided an interesting and heart pumping way back along the coast.

not much PP, just a tweak of curves, resized and sharpened,

Have a good weekend everybody.

Hello Paul,
I can see the reason for the name, the strata looking like bacon rashes!
As usual, great lighting, this time from the rising sun highlighting the cliffs against the dark sky. I also like the foreground, shown so clearly that the lichens, Xanthoria parietina show well. great composition too.
Well done, thanks and have a good weekend,
Ivan

WOW!
What a fantastic capture of this marvellous landscape, Paul! I love the sunlight bathing the rocks while the sea is all in shadows.
Magnificent picture with excellent sharpness and beautiful colors.
Congratulations and TFS
Greetings

You've caught this scene in a beautiful light Paul.
This looks very much like where I was this afternoon,on the cliffs above Point Elizabeth.
I can't hear the name Dorset without thinking of the Comic strip film "Five Go Mad In Dorset" with Peter Richardson,Adrian Edmonson,Dawn french and Jennifer Saunders.
(this almost looks like the bay where Julian smashed Dicks guitar on the rock)
Great stuff!
Cheers
Steve

Hi Paul, superb seascape with splendid warm colors, wonderful light, very well done, have a nice week end, ciao Silvio

If that isn't a dramatic picture so garnd...stunningly colored and wide in scope, the picture speaks to me of the powers of water and rock. Wonderful Paul. Simply grand.

Dear Paul,
This is a great come back to landscape photography (I have to say that the "aminal break was also very interesting and included beautiful photos!).
Amazing colours and fantastic climat! Also composition is very beautiful.
But I have a question, why the name is "Bacon Hole"? Because of geological structure of rocks? or maybe there is some another reason?
Best withes,
Radomir

Hi Paul

Hi Paul

Yes...your speciality...coastal landscapes! It's indeed a splendor!
The colors here are the time of day that you chose are simply outstanding! I really love the mood they gave the perspective here.
You never said why this place is called "Bacon hole"...is it because of the cliff in the BG and the layers of sediment that resemble a slice of bacon? :)
Anothing element here i think reached perfection: the exposure. With the correct settings and the impeccable use of certain filters, you managed to balance that so well that every single part of the frame here is wonderfully illuminated.
My personal congratulations!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Paul

Superb lighting and exposure, combined with punchy colours - wonderful!

James

I find that lens very obliging when hand held. You got great detail in the foreground, the water ripples, and the distance bluff. The light is really special. Here in Oregon we are very familiar with the "Sun Break"... that fleeting moment of sunshine in an otherwise cloudy day. I can stand the weather so long as there is at least one sun break during the day. It makes all the difference.

Hi Paul,
Fantastic shot, I am absolutely spellbound. The warm sunlight creates a fabulous effect and the golden glow lights up the cliffs and the sea water majestically. Great view and such a wonderful place to be at. Excellent POV to portray this mesmerizing scene and very nicely composed. Kudos.
TFS.

Hi Paul,
You British always have these wonderful names for places. We Dutch are just to sober to come up with it. But than we do not have such awesome places in our country.
The late light is for sure the stunner in this photo, it gave you such great saturated colors and a very stunning contrast between rock and sky. The POV is spectacular if not daring. Love the details and texture of the distant cliff and that pathway does look like a tricky one.
TFS,
Niek

Wow!!
Here is an example of perfect capture of the light. The composition is very well-kept.
