One of the last butterflies in my country, but strangely very common in this month.

Class: Insecta

Order: Lepidoptera

Superfamily: Papilionoidea

Family: Nymphalidae

Subfamily: Nymphalinae

Tribe: Nymphalini

Genus: Vanessa

Species: V. atalanta

The Red Admiral or Vanessa atalanta (previously also known as Pyrameis atalanta) is a well-known colourful butterfly, found in temperate Europe, Asia and North America. The species is resident only in warmer areas, but migrates north in spring, and sometimes again in autumn.
This large butterfly is identified by its striking dark brown, red and black wing pattern. The caterpillar feeds on nettles, and the adult drinks from flowering plants like the Buddleia and overripe fruit.
In northern Europe, it is one of the last butterflies to be seen before winter sets in, often feeding on the pale fire of ivy flowers on sunny days. The Red Admiral is also known to hibernate, re-emerging individuals showing prominently darker colourings than first brood subjects. The butterfly also flies on sunny winter days, especially in southern Europe.

Brilliant capture of this beautiful butterfly with your compact, Luciano.
The focus is spot on and the DOF is just great.

Hello Luciano,
This is a lovely specie but we are at the end of autumn and the colors begin to deteriorate.
Very good POV.
Autumn weather was friendly to the butterfly species here in my country and I meet a few butterflies like European Peacock and Common Blue a few days ago.....

Boa noite Luciano.

Hello Luciano,
I haven't seen many of these this year in Ohio so I will just have to enjoy yours. Nicely composed shot while showing very good detail. Bright vivid markings and just the right amount of exposure.

Thanks Luciano

Hello Luciano,
Beautiful picture of this Admiral. Very good DOF and perfect focus. Details look very good. Well exposure.
Thanks for sharing,
Regards and have a nice WE,

Bonjour Luciano,

La vテゥgテゥtation cadre bien le papillon. La lumiティre fait ressortir la beautテゥ des couleurs. Bonne journテゥe.
