Monkey Orchid (Orchis simia)
Rare orchid growing on dry grassland and woodland. The flowers ressemble monkeys and are unique in that they open from the top down, unlike other orchids.
This plant was found near town Urbino in Italy � this was my first Monkey orchid :-) |

Very nice capture of a very beautiful orchid Jan. Very sharp with plenty of details, lovely colours, well blurred background and clever handling of the light. Well done.

My they do look like little monkeys, I've never seen one of these, thank you for sharing. I love the bright color contrast between the white and purple. Well done.
