Achill island encompasses dramatic land and sea scapes which have provided inspiration for artists and writers for many years. I took this shot from the north-facing cliffs of Achill's second highest mountain at 668m.

I took quite a number of images from this summit but have never got around to posting them. Many I have yet to stitch together. I ran up to this summit during midday only to survey the region. My intention was to return at sunset but that never happened as the weather changed and I had to move on down the west coast, unfortunately I only carried my 17-70 Sigma and camera . My ultra wide baby never seen this view which I regret.

Nice shot Stephen
Would have been tricky with the bright sunlight on those rocks.
The sea looks so blue there.
Not sure if I like the black frame and words, but the composition is good and the vertical format works well.
Cheers,Steve

Hi Stephen,
Great shot here. Maybe it is already 'wide angle' enough.
Maybe quality would be an issue otherwise.
Composition is great here.
I wonder if it is difficult to get there...
I agree more or less with Steve's critique too.

Excellent shot Stephen. Colors are fine and the view is marvelous. I guess you shot this in the middle of the day as the light is quite hard. Good post. TFS!

Pieter

This works welll for me. I could see how you could get more fg with your 10mm here, but given the composition, this is a wonderful combination of elements and textures on this seascape. The shadows add a nice depth, too.
Mike

Yet another wonderful post! i like the blue of the sea and the sky. Great pov and feeling of the depth! These kind of rocky place near the sea looks wonderful to me.
Thank you,
Ersin

Hello Stephen,
Excellent landscape again.POV,colors, framing and composition are wonderful as always.
TFS...:-)

I too wish you had had your wide angle lens with which you perform magic. This is nice but lighting is a little harsh. I'm wondering if I detect some barrel distortion at the horizon. I know I sure get it when I use my Canon 17-85 at the wide end. That is easily straightened with the right tool.

Hi,
Perfect landscape. British Isles are so picturesque...
Best greetings,
Michal

Hi Steve,
Love the pov with showing the height and the clarity throughout the scenery. Great control on the exposure considering the time of day and the angle of the sun. I particular like the extra story you wrote, describing your journey to this view point. I do agree with Evelynn about the barrel distortion.
