Hello my friend,

Another superb addition to your already great portfolio...and what a stunning location, too: the Ngorongoro Crater (a place i would definitely love to visit one day).
I like the view here - close enough to get a good idea of the birds but also wide enough to capture the magnitude of the phenomenon. The tones and the mood are also topnotch and complete this lovely composition. Well done. Bravo!

Hello Way,

It's been too long, my friend. I hope you are well :)
What a fabulous capture here! I think this would have made a lovely landscape shot even without the fantastic addition of the herd of guanacos. The light here is very special - soft and nice not to give you harsh shadows in the foreground, yet dramatic to make the sky very interesting, too. The huge mountain in the back is also a wonderful element and somehow integrates the elements and gives them a sense of place.
Gorgeous photo!
Bravo and thanks for sharing.

Really great panorama Maciej!
You've taken great advantage of the haze in the air here and therefore mountains and crests looks exceptional. The layers seem to be endless.
The exposure is very nicely managed, good contrast and nice wide, panoramic format as well.
Very well seen and taken.

Hi George,

This is a superb portrait...i'm a bit surprised it didn't get more attention.
Firstly, i like your parallel plane with the subject and how that enabled you to capture the whole animal in focus with a very wide apperture. The details are impeccably sharp and i particuularly like two bits here: the texture of the hairs everywhere (but best evident on those brighter ones around hte ear lobe) and the bottom, wavy bit of the horns...those are really terrific!
Finally, i also like how you've composed it and i think this square framing works very nice.
Truly wonderful work!

Bravo and thanks for sharing

I wasn't going to let this one go, either :)

The idea to use a full ND here definitely was original and you've come away with a very neat shot! The longer exposure makes the water seem more tranquil, thus enhancing the serenity given by the blue sky and snowy mountains in the distance. I also like the movement caught in the fluffy clouds...surely adds a little extra something :)
Again, the composition stands out from the start, with some strong geometric shapes sketched in the foreground (almost like two successive arrows pointing towards the mountains) and the rule of thirds applied nicely to the placement of the horizon.
Overall, another stunning landscape, my friend!

Cheers and TFS

PS: I also noticed that you've upgraded to a nice, new and big frame camera...NICE!!!:))

Hello my friend,

Finally a bit more time for browsing through photos and commenting :)
I agree with you - i more than often stay away from clear skies, but what you've managed to come up here with is terrific! The symmetry in the composition and the simplicity of the elements make this a truly fantastic landscape. Moreover, this simplicity of elements also evokes the space and conditions here the best, making this an emblematic photo for such locations.
Exposure-wise, i just love the graduation in the sky and how the horizon is nice and bright, showing huge depth (again a testament of the clear air from those places).
Wonderful work, Niek!

Hi Niek

Really nice to see you taking a photography trip and especially to such a remote but rewarding location as the Lofoten Islands :)
Although my Norwegian experience was surely different, i'm sure there were similarities and i think we both acknowledge the country as a Mecca for landscape photography. Moreover, i'm pretty sure i'll go there again this year - sometime in early September and somewhere around Tromso :)

Now to the image - this is a true beauty. I love the light on both the foreground rocks and the distant mountains and sky. I particularly love the striped side of the second mountain - a great focal point and contrast and attractive element.
The 0.9 grad definitely evened out the exposure very well and gave you plenty of detail in the foreground. Wonderful work, my friend!

Cheers and TFS

Hi Niek and nice to see you again old friend :)
So...your business took you to Hong Kong!! Wow! I would love such a job that would make me travel all over the world :)
It's a bit shame though that you didn't have more time to explore the areas and to have proper photo trips. I'm sure you would have loved that and also sure that i would have loved to see some great landscape shots from you from there.
But still, you came back with something. Definitely a bit out of my comfort zone (not in a bad way)... agree with you here, but still you made the most of the situation and you kit. Even if you didn't zoom all the way, you still had f/5.6 which is a bit slow if the light isn't strong, yet the sharpness of this shot is great. It does look like a beautiful species...and one enjoying apples :))
The contrast with the BG work well here, i think, and emphasizes the immaculate plumage of this bird - except for the tip of the tail.
Overall, i'd say you did a nice job.

Cheers and have a lovely Sunday

Hi again, George

Another wonderful capture from you.
Spiders are always interesting to photogrpah and you managed to capture this one is a great pose - fiddling its web with its front legs.
The details on it are terrific and the overall focus on the spider is very good. The DOF is also impressive and it's amazing what a beautiful bokeh you managed to produce whilst still using f/16.
Great job!

Hi Christodoulos

This is a beautiful macro of this vibrant species - the violet dropwing.
The pose in which you captured this male is a typical one and it also enabled you to isolate it from the background. Due to that you were able to use an apperture that would render excellent sharpness on your subject yet still blur the BG well.
Great exposure management, too, nice diagonal composition (with the dragonfly and the twig) and an overall lovely presentation.

Bravo and thanks for sharing

Hi Niek

Nice to see another post from you...it's been a while and i thought your index finger has gone missing :))
This is a lovely new location and, as you said, a superb candidate for a "trough the season" series.
I really like the composition you managed here - using perfectly the rule of thirds both on the horizontal and the vertical. The tree stands out well and balances the nice reflection of the sky from the right-hand side.
You were kindly rewarded by this brief moment when the sun peaked through and you definitely knew immediately what to do with it. The reverse grad worked superbly and i can't even see where around the horizon it was positioned.
Very beautiful work, my friend.

Hi George

This is truly a lovely capture, from many points of view.
Firstly, i really like the graceful pose in which you captured this beautiful ibis.
Secondly, the sharpness is excellent and the composition works really well, especially with the subject placed there in the frame.
And third, and actually most of all, i love the low warm light on the bird. That bright patch on its "shoulder" and especially the tint in its wings really turn this ibis into a phoenix.
Absolutely magnificent timing and great execution.

I see that, just like Greg, you went with a closer portrait :)
I really like it, too and actually my favorite part is the catchlight in its eye...that really "gives it live" and shows a great POV from your part.
Other than that, i also like the square format and it think it works well here, but i don't know why you went all the way up to ISO800. Anyway, that's a minor detail...the shot is very nice and i think that our feeling after such a great morning is even better :)
Thanks for this, again!

Well even if i'm a bit late, i'm not going to miss a lizard picture of yours :)
A very nice capture, my friend! I particularly like the lower POV on this one and, as a result, the gorgeous blue sky in the BG.
Also, thanks to your spot-on exposure, you managed to retain the very nice details of the brighter rocks, with still keeping good contrast between them and the darker agama.
Overall, a top shot!

Hi George

Yet another absolutely fantastic post from you!
Not only you managed to show us a very cool and interesting subject here, but you also managed a totally original and terrific presentation - with the irregular (like the pattern) split between these two great pictures.
The idea to convert it to greyscale was excellent and it really gives us a nice insight of how a possible predator "sees" this well camouflaged agama.
Wonderful work!

I guess you could stretch a bit more with your up to 300mm lens and got this superb intimate portrait. Indeed, it was a great day and together with you and Michal i had a lot of fun exploring the small beauties that Lodz has to offer. Perhaps next time we can go out in search for some deer or wild boar in the other forest :)
Anyway, yes - as you well know by now - i do like Diablo and, hence, i also appreciate the really cool eye of this guy here :)) (i also hope Diablo III will finally arrive).

Hi George

Your last two macros are really fantastic and definitely something that the TN community has been lacking in quite a while.
This Tailless whip scorpions is truly magnificent as an animal and captured so well as you managed here, it fascinates every used, i think.
I like the upper POV you chose here as it allowed you to comprise the entire animal in almost the same focal plane in order to get it as sharp as possible. That also worked very well in conjunction with the flash and the overall result is a very details, crisp shot that presents the unique features of this create impeccably well (even more praise-worthy if we consider it was taken at night).

BRAVO and Thanks for sharing this beauty (as i actually consider it that!)

Buna Oana
